Hiking up to Lake Isabelle in Colorado is one of the most beautiful and rewarding hikes around. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow, and the views are simply stunning. The lake itself is a clear blue gem nestled in a rocky alpine setting, and it’s well worth the effort to reach it. Bring plenty of water and snacks, as there are no services along the way. But the effort is worth it, and you’ll be treated to some of the most amazing scenery in all of Colorado. So grab your hiking boots and head on up to Lake Isabelle – you won’t be disappointed!

 

Directions:

Denver to Lake Isabelle is an easy drive that should only take a little over an hour. From Denver, take I-70 west until you reach the small town of Empire. From there, continue on Highway 285 south for about 28 miles. The turnoff for Lake Isabelle will be on your left, and there will be a sign for the Brainard Lake Recreation Area. Follow the road for another 3 miles until you reach the lake. And that’s it! You can enjoy the beautiful views and maybe even go for a hike. Just be sure to have your camera ready, because this is one drive that you’re going to want to remember.
